NEMS based on Graphene and CNTs
In the last decade Graphene and CNT have become active elements in mechanical resonators. Due to their small mass, high Young’s modulus, and almost perfect crystallinity they posses high resonance frequencies and high quality factors. In our group we study the vibrational modes and dissipation processes for these nano-structures, as well as, non linear behaviors which often occur. We develop different actuation and detection techniques in which the resonance frequencies can be measured and detected, and utilize them at cryogenic temperatures in which quantum mechanical phenomena of mechanical oscillators are expected.
